BOUGHTON MONCHELSEA, COXHEATH, EAST FARLEIGH & EAST MALLING

BOUGHTON MONCHELSEA 

The village of Boughton Monchelsea is located about three miles south of Maidstone. It was the home of quarries worked originally in Romans times and later Ragstone (a type of sandstone) was worked here with stone being used for the building of Westminster Abbey, the present-day Houses of Parliament and the repair of Rochester Castle. The last quarry closed about 1960. The village has a small green as well as a village hall and a recreation ground among its amenities. 

TRANSPORT.   
The easiest motorway junction to reach is probably J8 of M20 (about five miles). Marden main line station is about five miles to the south. 

SCHOOLS.   
There is a primary school in the village with The Cornwallis Academy (senior) just under one mile away. 

RETAIL.   
There is a village shop with post office or there are local facilities at Loose (inc Sainsbury local) and at Coxheath. Morrisons and Aldi have stores about two miles away. 

COXHEATH. 

Lying approximately three miles south of Maidstone, Coxheath has a replica beacon pole and a coat of arms celebrating the role that the village played as a signal bonfire site for hundreds of years. 

TRANSPORT 
Marden main line station is about five miles to the south. M20  
junctions are between five and seven miles. 

SCHOOLS. 
There is a primary school and the Cornwallis Academy for secondary education is about one mile away. 

RETAIL. 
There is a good range of village shops and a small supermarket. Tesco and Lidl at Tovil are about 2.5 miles.

EAST FARLEIGH

A small village situated about two miles to the south west of Maidstone on the banks of the River Medway. 

TRANSPORT.
 J5 of M20 is about three miles to the north. East Farleigh station is on the Paddock Wood to Strood link line whilst the London Victoria main line station at Barming is about 2.5 miles. 

SCHOOLS. 
East Farleigh has a primary school whilst senior schools will be found in Linton and Maidstone. 

RETAIL. 
Supermarkets can be found at Tovil, just under two miles away. 

EAST MALLING 

The village of East Malling sits between West Malling and Larkfield and has a rich history with a number of impressive listed buildings. East Malling has a village hall, a church and a village pub. 

TRANSPORT. 
M20 J4 is about 2.5 miles. East and West Malling stations offer services to London Victoria. 

SCHOOLS. 
East Malling has primary and secondary schools. 

RETAIL. 
The village offers limited shopping but nearby Larkfield offers a Morrisons supermarket and a Tesco Superstore. At Ditton (about 2.5 miles) there is a large retail park.
