Lenham is a market village with many period buildings situated on the southern edge of the North Downs, halfway between Maidstone and Ashford. The picturesque square in the village has a range of shops, public houses and restaurants. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Lenham market dates back to 1088, when the village was an important crossroad settlement.
TRANSPORT.
Lenham sits just to the south of the A20 London to Folkestone trunk road . The M20 can be accessed at J8 and 9. Lenham railway station is on the Maidstone East Line connecting with Ashford and London Victoria.
SCHOOLS.
There is the Lenham Primary School and for secondary education, the Lenham School (Swadelands).
RETAIL.
There are a good range of village shops in and near the village square.
Loose is a village some two miles south of Maidstone with the original village situated at the head of the Loose Valley, with which it forms the Loose Valley Conservation Area. Loose has expanded over the years towards Maidstone. Loose has a much sought after primary school.
TRANSPORT.
M20 lies to the North of Maidstone (J7 about four miles). Marden railway station about five miles to the south.
SCHOOLS.
Loose Primary School; Tiger Primary School and for secondary education, New Line Learning Academy and the Cornwallis Academy are within easy reach.
RETAIL.
Sainsbury Local, Boughton shopping parade and a village Post Office.
